Data Governance Lead to Skanska Group HQ

Skanska Group HQ is looking for a Data Governance Lead - a strategic and execution-oriented professional who will drive the company's enterprise data governance agenda at a global level.
This is a key role within Group Function IT, reporting to the VP Analytics & Data. The Data Governance Lead will act as a critical link between business, IT, cybersecurity, legal, and risk functions, translating governance requirements into frameworks that are practical, scalable, and embedded into how the organization operates day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
Governance Strategy & Roadmap: Lead Skanska’s data governance strategy, operating model, and roadmap in alignment with Group principles and business priorities.
Policy & Framework Development: Implement governance policies, standards, and frameworks covering data ownership, classification, access, retention, and lifecycle management.
Critical Data Asset Management: Identify and prioritize critical data assets and ensure governance practices support information security, operational resilience, and business continuity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Group and Business Unit stakeholders across IT, cybersecurity, legal, privacy, risk, and business functions to align data governance with regulatory, contractual, and risk requirements, including NIS2-related expectations.
Accountability & Stewardship: Drive accountability by defining, enabling, and supporting data ownership and stewardship roles in line with Skanska’s role definitions.
Compliance & Audit Readiness: Ensure governance controls are clearly documented, implemented, and evidenced to support audit, compliance, and assurance activities.
Governance Maturity: Monitor data governance maturity, identify gaps and risks, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Adoption & Culture: Build awareness and adoption of data governance practices through communication, guidance, and training - embedding governance into day-to-day ways of working.
